St George'sThis picturesque town, wrapped around the perimeter of the island's finest natural harbour, is perhaps the most appealing capital in the entire Caribbean. Founded in the early 18th century by the French, St George's still possesses something of the character of a French town, particularly in the red tile roofs and pastel colours of its traditional architecture. St George's contains a number of sites worth exploring, and the Board of Tourism provides a handy guide for walking tours. |

Gouyave - Friday Fish @ GouyaveGouyave is a fishing village about 50 minutes from Bacolet Bay, and is known locally as the town that never sleeps. More fish is caught by Gouyave\"s fishermen than anywhere else on the island, and Gouyave people know their seafood. Fish Friday, as the name suggests, takes place every Friday from around 6pm until 1am. Vendors line St Francis and St Dominic streets with grills, fryers, steamers and cookers and create some of the most mouth-watering Grenadian seafood imaginable. The event is complemented by music, in the form of live bands and a DJ, and is fast becoming the place to be on a Friday night. |
